Art has always been a significant part of my life. I minored in fine arts in college, and much of the work featured here comes from that time. One of my proudest moments was creating a 3D mask that was purchased by Northern Virginia Community College and is now displayed on rotation at their campuses.
I also had the incredible opportunity to study under artist Nan Haid and contribute to her renowned visual diary series, The Nanoseconds. This series was even featured in the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
These days, I find my creative outlet in a few different ways. I illustrate children's books, participate in local art contests, and paint vibrant home murals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I discovered a joy in painting and hiding decorative rocks, a small act of artistry I still love sharing with my community.
At work, I specialize in translating complex technical and process documentation into clear, concise, and actionable learning content. My approach is rooted in simplifying information to ensure it is both digestible and engaging for the target audience, which ultimately drives comprehension and improves performance.
This dedication to effective communication also extends to my creative work. I have successfully written and illustrated a children's book, a project that required a strong understanding of how to simplify complex ideas and present them in a highly engaging format for a specific audience.Â
Whether at work or home, my ability to adapt my writing for diverse audiences is a core strength. I am passionate about using my writing skills to create meaningful and impactful experiences for audiences of all ages.
The kitchen is a place of creativity for me, much like my other pursuits. I'm a passionate cook and baker who loves to experiment with new recipes and create my own concoctions. Over the years, I've even self-published four cookbooks as gifts for family and friends. I also enjoy creating custom spice mixes and writing recipes to go with them.
My most memorable culinary achievement was winning the Viva Paper Towel recipe contest for my twist on my family's traditional Thanksgiving Apples and Yams. The prize was a professional KitchenAid mixer and a year's supply of Viva paper towels!
